A first at the University of Kinshasa!
The new Unikin management committee, under the fervent leadership of Rector Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe, is not resting on its laurels. In implementing its action plan, the Rector of Unikin convened this Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in the promotion room, the General Assembly of the University of Kinshasa.
In his speech, the Rector of Unikin, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe, briefly presented the contents of the meeting. His speech focused on the following points:
- Postcard from Unikin.
- Current challenges.
- Vision/Mission of the new management committee and Vision/Mission of the University of Kinshasa.
- Status of Unikin governance indicators.
- Together, let's rebuild our city.
After a brief presentation of the University of Kinshasa, the Rector of Unikin presented the main challenges to be addressed. These include academic succession, the promotion of distance learning, especially during this pandemic, the revisiting of Unikin's last strategic plan, which dates back to 2006, and the transformation of Unikin into a driving force for innovation and creativity in multidisciplinarity, a wealth-producing university.
Unikin's governance indicators are all trending downward. Administrative, academic, and financial governance must improve. This represents a significant challenge and a key point to address during this Unikin General Assembly.
The stakeholders in this major assembly are: the management committee, faculties, trade unions, professors, scientists, administrators, technicians and workers, students, decentralized entities, and commercial operators. This is truly a first in the history of Unikin.
From the bottom up, everyone will be called upon to reflect on sectoral strategic plans that will enable Unikin to take a new flight.
This was followed by a moment of discussion with the audience led by the Secretary General for Research, Professor Antoine Tshimpi.
These are the objectives of this great General Assembly of Unikin for the development of a university of the future.
