  1. Exchange workshop between the Secretary General in charge of Research at the University of Kinshasa and Secretaries General in charge of Research recently appointed in other Congolese institutions.

Six months have passed since the appointment of the 1er SGR at the University of Kinshasa, following the resolutions of the General Assembly of Higher and University Education, and the very first for the entire Republic. It is definitively etched in the history of our country. The second wave of SGRs was just appointed 5 weeks ago; and most of them needed some benchmarks in order to build a research policy for their institutions. At the same time, UNIKIN needed to take stock of the activities carried out during this first semester. And the list of achievements is long and will be communicated to you at the end of May, during the publication of the first internal rankings relating to the performance contract we have already discussed. It will concern all of us: researchers, departments, faculties, etc. Representatives from no fewer than 15 institutions were present; they expressed their admiration for the work accomplished by the SGR during this short period. A report is being sent (precedence requires!) to our supervisory minister and a copy to the CPE before dissemination. Resolutions are proposed to improve institutional governance, efficiency and visibility of Research and service to the community;

  1. Workshop on the General Secretariat for Research at IFASIC

The IFASIC workshop continued the reflection, in the midst of developing its research policy, in accordance with the resolutions of the ESU general assembly and drawing on the experience of "the first 6 months of the elder sister of the DR Congolese universities, pitfalls, surprises and traps to avoid" (Professor Tshimpi). Participation was very active, in the presence of the Permanent Secretary of the Permanent Commission for Studies (CPE), Professor Kabule (Interconnectivity of Doctoral Schools), and experts from SGR/Unikin including Professors Lututala (Doctoral Schools), Bisa (Research, writing and publication in indexed journals). The final recommendations will be published very soon;

  1. Conference, Monday, April 11, 2022, Monekoso Room: Gender/Unikin discussed “Promoting the empowerment of women and girls as well as gender equality in the context of combating climate change and reducing disaster risks;
  1. Inauguration ceremony of the renovated conference rooms, urban committee street in Gombe, on behalf of from the Ministry of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation and opening of the Congolese journal of human and social sciences.

The "rehabilitation of research" wave continues its surge beyond the borders of Kinshasa, and this is undoubtedly a good thing! The Ministers and senior officials present, as well as the Professors, sometimes lacked the words of praise to express their satisfaction at seeing research finally regain its place in our daily lives. Bravo to Professor Mingashang, Director of the Research Center on Human Sciences and organizer of this event; and above all, hats off to their "Congolese Journal of Human and Social Sciences - RECOSH" which meets almost all the indexing criteria. A meeting has been arranged to launch the procedure!

  • Save the date
  1. Monday, April 18, 2022, USNESCO Representative Office in Kinshasa; African training workshop on Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators, for an innovation policy in a changing socio-economic environment;
  2. Exhibition since Tuesday April 12 of "The University of Kinshasa honors these women professors, exhibition of their effigies" on the forecourt of the rectorate. Come take a look!
