DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECTS FOR FUNDS MOBILIZATION,
It is often mentioned that our scientific community and researchers are lacking in developing research projects that can enable the mobilization of funds, a sine qua non condition for creating a virtuous circle for the benefit of... research. To be effective, it often takes several weeks or months of work before arriving at an argument that takes into account numerous factors likely to lead to the prize. And once this stage is reached, it is still necessary to (really) get to work, according to a pre-established schedule and comply, in particular, with regular and uncompromising evaluation. A researcher must continually remain in the school of rigor.
In the process of developing a research project, several questions must come to mind:
What are the prerequisites? The pitfalls to avoid? The steps to follow? The tips? Etc. A training course was announced for several weeks and co-organized by the Center for Research on Technological Innovation in the Environment and Health Sciences (CRITESS), the General Secretariat for Research (SGR) of UNIKIN, the Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism for the Resolutions of the ESU General Assembly (EGESUC). Its actual holding was done in person and remotely, over 5 days, from July 4 to 8, in the digital library of the great faculty of medicine of our alma mater and attracted a large crowd.
The achievement of this training was signed by Professor Patrick MEMVANGA, head of CRITESS and expert at the General Secretariat of Research (SGR), supported by Professor Joséphine NTUMBA, from CRITESS and also expert at the SGR, Professor Michel BISA KIBUL, Secretary General of the Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism of EGESUC Resolutions and expert at the SGR, under the supervision of the National Coordinator of the Monitoring Mechanism of EGESUC and SGR Resolutions of Unikin, Professor Antoine TSHIMPI WOLA, and with the assistance of a solid technical team. CRITESS is a project that has obtained a grant from the Institute of La Francophonie for Sustainable Development, a subsidiary body of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
The workshop experts and facilitators came from Belgium (Prof. Roland MARINI, University of Liège; Prof. Annie CORNET, University of Liège School of Management; Mr. David CAMMAERTS, Integrated Water Resources Management), Switzerland (Prof. Jean-Claude BOLAY, Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Prof. Bernard
LUTUTALA, FSEG-Unikin; Prof. Christophe MASIALA, FSP-Unikin).
More than 220 participants from 52 ESU institutions in the DRC attended with sustained attendance. It was generally agreed that this training came at an opportune time, as our country has just decided to (re)emphasize research. This workshop, led and opened by the Secretary General in charge of research at UNIKIN, Professor Antoine TSHIMPI WOLA, was closed by the Rector of UNIKIN, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA. Congratulations and hats off to the organizers, facilitators, and all participants.
Tuesday, July 5, Mgr Luc Gillon Promotions Hall: a scientific activity on Sickle Cell Disease was held, with the awarding of training diplomas (Unikin, KU Leuven, ULB, and Pitié-Salpétrière) to the 2020-2021 class; all in the presence of the Very Distinguished First Lady, Denise NYAKERU TSHISEKEDI, but also of great personalities and authorities, in particular, the Ministers of Higher and University Education, SE Muhindo NZANGI, of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation (RSIT), SE José MPANDA, and of Health, SE Jean-Jacques MBUNGANI.
It’s hard to describe the scientific and festive atmosphere!
Thursday, July 7th morning, Mgr Luc GILLON Promotions Room: conference on the "Law on Scientific Research and Technological Innovation" being prepared in Parliament. This conference was initiated and presented by the PhD student and Minister of Regional Planning, HE Guy LOANDO, initiator of this law when he was a Senator. It was co-hosted by HE José MPANDA (RSIT) and completed by Professor and First Vice-President of the National Assembly, André MBATA. As proposed by African heads of state who met several times in Lagos, Addis Ababa and Malabo in 2014, it is proposed to increase the annual budget for research and innovation in the DRC to 1% of GDP, as well as the establishment of a research valorization agency (ANAVAR). The discussions proved to be informative and helpful in this reflection, with a general wish that this law could be presented and voted on before the budget session at the end of this year.
Thursday, July 7, afternoon, Luc Gillon Promotions Room: Successful defense of the thesis on "Chronic middle otitis in the DRC" by PhD student Auguste OMADJELA. Congratulations to the new PhD thesis recipient.
Thursday, July 7, early evening, Luc Gillon Promotions Hall: pre-launch of the cultural season with a play entitled “Professor Catastrophe in conference with the students”.
Special mention for the main actor Jonathan ELENGA of L1 Letters and Civilizations, but also for the other actors, slam artists and poets including Charles MANYAMA PONGO of L1, L1 Delegate (I'm learning the Unikin anthem!). All this, under the guidance of Professor and very talented poet MAKOLO and in the presence of Dean MABIALA and his decanal staff.
Saturday, July 9, Faculty of Letters, Board Room: Presentation of the doctoral and DES thesis projects in philosophy. Congratulations to Dean MABIALA, the Head of Department, and the Research Secretary.
