Donation of 80 all-terrain vehicles to ESU emeritus professors by President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi
The President of the Republic Felix Antoine Tshisekedi chaired, this Monday 1er August 2022, on the esplanade of the People's Palace, the official ceremony for the handover of a donation of 80 branded vehicles Toyota Hilux off-road to the Emeritus Professors of Higher and University Education (ESU) of the DRC. This solemn presentation of the means of transport to this category of Professors stems from the Head of State's concern to revalue the teaching profession, starting with the upper echelon, and to demonstrate the nation's recognition of these professors who, through their brilliant scientific careers, have contributed to the training of the country's executives.
Speaking, the Minister of Higher University Education, Muhindo Nzangi, for whom this ceremony was "the materialization of the promise made by Head of State Félix Antoine Tshisekedi to university teachers on September 18, 2020, with a view to improving their social conditions", specified that it was about "the first phase of a vast operation to provide means of transport to all university professors in public establishments".For the Minister of ESU, "The father of the nation is fulfilling a government commitment by handing over the keys to the vehicles to the fathers of our sciences, the Professors Emeritus, thus expressing his will and that of the government to implement one of the axes of the Bibwa agreements.". In addition to this materialization of the commitments made by the Head of State, there is the improvement of the social conditions of ESU staff, the construction, rehabilitation and modernization of several establishments in the country. It was announced that the operation of distributing biometric cards to students to allow access to vehicles and digital libraries will soon begin. Referring to the salary aspect, the Minister of ESU announced that all civil servants should see their basic salary increased by 40%.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, the Professor Malembe Tamandiak, Honorary Rector of IFASIC, thanked the President of the Republic for "this historic gesture", before pleading for the support of Professors Emeritus, in accordance with the legal provisions in this area. The President of the Republic symbolically handed over the ignition keys to a sample of Professors Emeritus, the others having to collect theirs in their respective establishments. Among the beneficiaries of these vehicles we can cite the Professors Isidore Ndaywell Enziem, Raphael Nyabirungu, Kambayi Bwatsha, Mwene Batende And Nsaman.
For his part, the President of the " Networks of Associations of University Professors of Congo » (RAPUCO), THE Professor Rodolphe Iyolo said he was satisfied with the effective start of the distribution of vehicles to University Professors, believing that there were no more reasons to strike.
