Working session between the University of Kinshasa and the International Organization of La Francophonie

A working session was held today at the General Secretariat for Research, in which the following took part:

  • The Secretary General for Research, Prof. Dr. Antoine TSHIMPI.
  • A delegation from the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) represented by Mr. Yves NASSOURI and Mr. Balford WETSHI.
  • Researchers from the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN): Prof. BIEY MAKALI and Mr. Bertin MBUYA (finalist in Environment and head of the research project “Bambouseraie de Kinshasa”)

The discussions focused on three projects, two of which have a high environmental impact, relating to the organization of the Francophone Games scheduled for July in Kinshasa:

  • Bamboo planting at the Francophone Games venues: “CONGOLESE FRANCOPHONY BAMBOUSERAIE”.
  • Project for the collection, recycling and transformation of plastics to be used during the Francophone Games: "CONTRIBUTION TO IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS DURING THE FRANCOPHONE GAMES THROUGH THE SANITATION AND RECYCLING OF PLASTICS." On this occasion, a visit to the UNIKIN bamboo grove was made at the end of the work.
  • Visit of Lilian THURAM to the UNIKIN site at the end of March 2023: A schedule has been put in place to welcome the former footballer and 1998 world champion, Lilian THURAM, whose attachment to sporting and human values is well known.
