UNIKIN Rector elected President of the Regional Conference of Rectors of AUF Member Institutions in ACGL
The head of the eldest daughter of Congolese universities, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA, has now become president of the Regional Conference of Rectors of member institutions of the University Agency of the Francophonie in Central Africa and the Great Lakes.
The elections took place this Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the Pullman Hotel in Kinshasa, on the second day of the Regional Conference of Rectors who are members of the AUF in ACGL. During these meetings, the only remaining candidate out of three, including two who withdrew from the post of president of C2R ACGL, the now president Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA, won the majority of votes cast by show of hands.
“Let us work together to make the French-speaking space in ACGL a truly academic space for dialogue and mutual understanding with respect so that scientific Francophonie may triumph…”
This is an excerpt from the words of thanks from the president of the C2R ACGL, expressed after his accession to the head of this scientific structure of the AUF, the world's leading university network.
He will be assisted by 4 vice-presidents and 6 commissions according to the well-defined themes, from the different African member countries of the AUF in compliance with geolocation.
This first edition of the Regional Conference of Rectors of Central Africa and the Great Lakes pursued two objectives, namely: To present the missions and decide on a mode of governance of the Regional Conference of Rectors of Central Africa and the Great Lakes; and To share experiences and identify opportunities for partnership between member institutions around priority themes in the sub-region.
