The University of Lovanium's 70th anniversary celebrations were launched on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. The launch was held during a scientific morning at the Monekosso Hall by Minister of Higher and University Education MOHINDO NZANGI BUTONDO.

The ceremony featured several scientific presentations and testimonies from former colleagues of Bishop Luc Gillon, founder of the University of Kinshasa. It was attended by delegations from KU Leuven, UC Louvain, and the Catholic University of Congo. The Rector of the University of Kinshasa, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, presided over the ceremony alongside the President of the Board of Directors of the Universities of Congo, Professor Emeritus Crispin Maalu-Bungi.
