The University of Kinshasa finished in 2nd place in the ICC mock trial competition, with the “Best Speaker” prize awarded to Débora Sabanga

Today, May 24, 2024, the University of Paris-Panthéon-Assas (France) won the final of the French version of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court Competition, which took place in Courtroom I of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands. The University of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) won second place. The "Best Speaker" award went to Débora Sabanga of the University of Kinshasa.

The jury was composed of ICC Second Vice-President Judge Reine Alapini-Gansou, presiding judge of the jury, ICC Judge Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza, and ICC legal officer Léo Jolivet.

The teams competed in a fictional case and presented their arguments as Legal Representatives of Victims and the Defense, which were streamed live on the Court's website and Facebook account.

This third edition of the French-language mock trial competition is organized by the Hague Academy of International Law, with the support of the French Embassy in the Netherlands. 42 universities from 17 countries participated in the competition.
