Scientific day dedicated to the presentation of 117 works by Professor Shomba

A scientific day dedicated to the presentation of 117 scientific works and articles by Professor Sylvain Shomba Kinyamba, published in national and international publishing houses, was organized at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the ACP learned on Thursday from a university source.

"Our warm congratulations to the Faculty of Social Sciences, administrative and political and the University Interface Research Centersociety, Chair of Social Dynamics (CDS) for having organized this scientific day of homage to the hundred or so significant works of this eminent researcher, Sylvain Shomba, full member of the Congolese Academy of Sciences», said the rector of UNIKIN, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba.

He expressed his joy and his alma mater's gratitude to this great scientist for all his numerous works contributing to the advancement of science, society and humanity.

For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Social, Administrative and Political Sciences of UNIKIN, Professor Meya, appreciated the holding of this scientific activity allowing researchers, coming from several Congolese universities, to capitalize on the quality of the scientific works of Professor Sylvain Shomba.

These works, he said, include the epistemology of the social sciences, the various services that the university is called upon to provide to society and the critiques of scientific research contained in the theory. "the stigmata of hypoleveling in the social sciences", developed by Professor Sylvain Shomba.

Stigmata allude to the multidisciplinarity of disciplines used in social science research to provide solutions to the problems of society and humanity as a whole.

He emphasized the pride of his faculty in paying this tribute to this tireless and tireless researcher in the training of youth and the production of quality scientific works likely to contribute to the development of the country.

Professor Shomba, trainer of trainers, discussed several issues and proposed solutions, including youth entrepreneurship, investments, addressing unemployment and poverty, and cutting-edge research on societal problems.

For the CDS, Professor Ingrid Mulamba Feza praised the merits of Professor Sylvain Shomba in the social sciences, who trained several generations for over fifty years. The laureate himself thanked the University for this recognition.

The different themes covered

Six different themes were addressed on Wednesday during the scientific day dedicated to Professor Sylvain Shomba at the University of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The theme focused on "Sylvain Shomba on the trail of the epistemology of scientific research» was addressed by Prof. Jean-Pierre Mpiana Tshitenge wa Masengu, who recommended that researchers become aware of and revitalize data production techniques during field surveys as well as taking into account the psychological field during collection and survey by going beyond the data before scientific publication.

Speaker on "the stigmata of hypoleveling in social sciences, theory of Sylvain Shomba», Professor Colby Ngoy Bisongo said that by using Professor Sylvain Shomba's theory of stigmata of hypoleveling, the DRC can emerge from the current crisis on several levels.

The stigma, he said, relates to research across multiple scientific disciplines.

The theme "Sylvain Shomba in training methodology 

continues counterparts» was presented by Professor Clémentine Sangana Biduaya, she proposed the implementation of a Shombian school based on the promotion of the works of this master thinker Sylvain Shomba in social sciences.

As for the themes "Sylvain Shomba in the field of research for the ddevelopment», "THE Sylvain Shomba's look at the Investigations into Congolese daily life» And "LSylvain Shomba's criticism of scientific research carried out at the Congolese University», were presented respectively by professors Germain Kuna Maba, Régine Nambuwa, Bila Lenge and Bisa Kibul.

They discussed the analysis of social change and social dynamics that characterized Professor Shomba.

Praises and testimonials

This scientific day, organized on Wednesday, was also marked by testimonies from Professors Emile Bongeli, Basile Osokonda Okenge, Gilbert Malemba (Secretary General in charge of Research at the University of Lubumbashi), Professor Taba (representative of the Congolese Academy of Sciences), and Professor Emeritus Gaston Mwene Batende.

The latter noted the moral, intellectual, managerial and professional qualities of this researcher, as well as his description of the social facts, recommending the need to write down the scientific acts to immortalize him further.

Initiator of an interdisciplinary journal and of the Research Center of the Chair of Social Dynamics (CDS), bringing together different researchers from the North and the South.

Voted the best sociologist last year by the UNIKIN ranking, the faculty's jury awarded Professor Shomba a diploma of merit.
