LA SCIENCE AU SERVICE DE LA NATION CONGOLAISE: Unikin bastion de l’unité nationale à la 47e édition de la FICKIN
The University of Kinshasa marked a highlight at the 47th edition of the Congo-Kinshasa International Fair (FICKIN) by organizing, on August 22 and 23, 2025, two days of conferences under the central theme: "Consolidation of national unity in the face of the risk of balkanization."
For this second day, the Conference was opened by the Administrative Director of FICKIN, followed by the intervention of the Rector of the University of Kinshasa, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA. The latter recalled the importance of UNIKIN's presence at this international fair, emphasizing the role of the University of Kinshasa in the search for sustainable solutions for the DRC.
A particularly enriching day, thanks to four high-quality presentations:
• Professeur TAZI MAHATMA : « Refonder la posture stratégique congolaise : diplomatie numérique, contrôle du récit et création d’une armée numérique pour la guerre de l’Est ». Il a dénoncé l’attitude du Rwanda vis-à-vis de la RDC, notamment l’exploitation illicite des ressources congolaises et l’ambition de s’approprier des terres congolaises comme espace vital.
• Professor TSHIMPE LEBON: “The mixed conspiracy theory in Congolese political life”. He emphasized the destructive role of internal traitors in strategies to weaken the country.
• Professor OMANDJI: “Agricultural entrepreneurship and commercial competitiveness in the face of the challenges of the AfCFTA”. He highlighted entrepreneurship as a lever for economic development.
• Professor KABAMBA MARTIN: “Rare and strategic minerals in the DRC: exploitation strategies and health risks for miners”. He called for responsible and safe exploitation of natural resources.
A rich moment of exchange followed the presentations, highlighting the interest and commitment of the audience.
The Secretary General for Research, Professor Marie-Claire Yandju, delivered her closing remarks, thanking the participants. The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from the representative of the Minister of Commerce.
With this initiative, the University of Kinshasa has reaffirmed its position as an intellectual and scientific leader serving the nation.
