HET UNIKIN: A delegation of learners warmly received by the Rector of the University of Kinshasa to discuss the remarkable progress of the center

Kinshasa, March 3, 2025 – A delegation of learners representing their cohort at the Center for Advanced Technological Studies at the University of Kinshasa (HET UNIKIN) was warmly received by Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, Rector of the University of Kinshasa. The objective of this meeting was to discuss the remarkable progress of the center and to request his direct involvement in promoting it and attracting more learners.
HET UNIKIN is the result of a strategic partnership between the Canadian Centre for Advanced Technological Studies (CCHET), represented by the Canadian company STEMWORLD Services, which specializes in advanced digital technologies (STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Artificial Intelligence), and the University of Kinshasa. This center of excellence in STEM learning aims to offer innovative training, specifically adapted to the contemporary technological challenges of the DRC, with an emphasis on youth empowerment and employability. Aware of the unique opportunities it offers, learners have advocated for increased support from academic authorities to mobilize a larger number of learners and secure the resources essential to its development.
The Rector expressed his enthusiasm and reaffirmed his commitment to actively promoting HET UNIKIN within the university. On this occasion, he spoke by telephone with Mr. Trésor Mawaka, Vice President of Operations at STEMWORLD Services, currently on assignment in Toronto, Canada, where he is leading strategic actions to advance the project. During this exchange, Mr. Mawaka praised the Rector's leadership and emphasized the importance of this collaboration for the technological development of the DRC. He also reiterated the expectation of STEMWORLD Services and its President, Professor Ignace Kasiama, to welcome the Rector to Ottawa soon to explore together opportunities to strengthen the center and foster the emergence of a new generation of Congolese innovators capable of meeting the challenges and responding to the specific realities of the DRC.
Professor Ignace Kasiama, a prominent Congolese researcher and founder of STEMWORLD Services, is a recognized expert in applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, and educational technology. A visionary in the field of educational technology, he developed the integrated pedagogical conceptual framework for STEM learning based on educational serious games. He is also the inventor of STEMCore, a laptop specifically designed to facilitate STEM and artificial intelligence learning, thus embodying STEMWORLD Services' commitment to accessible technology education adapted to the realities of the DRC.
This meeting marks a key step in the development of HET UNIKIN and reaffirms the shared desire to make it a major lever for technological education in the DRC.
