Strategic reflections on the security and defense issues of the DRC, at the University of Kinshasa.

On Friday, November 1, 2024, the University of Kinshasa, in collaboration with the Kinshasa War College, organized a scientific morning dedicated to the theme of security and defense issues facing the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the face of persistent conflicts. This event, which took place at the university's Chapiteau, brought together several of the country's authorities, military personnel, academics, and students for a collective reflection on the critical challenges facing the country.

Major General Godefroid Muland Nawej, commander of the Kinshasa War College, spoke of the significant progress made by the Congolese army. He stated that this event is an integral part of military training, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of future generations of military leaders.
In his speech, the Rector of the inspired hill, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA, expressed his satisfaction with the first visit of the trainees of the 5th cohort of the War College, which was reserved for his university, strengthening the interaction between the academic and military communities. In this regard, he called for a collective awareness of the threats facing the nation, declaring: "Toza na méchant" (To the evil one), an invitation to join forces to counter the aggressions that have been disturbing the peace in the DRC for several years.
In this regard, the head of this Alma Mater announced that a morning of reflection on the Kuluna phenomenon and violence in student and urban environments will be held in the coming weeks. This initiative aims to develop concrete solutions to propose to political decision-makers to strengthen security and peace in the country.
In parallel with this session, Professor Émile NGOYI, Ambassador of the DRC to France and the Principality of Monaco, spoke via videoconference on the issues and challenges of African development in a context of geopolitical changes, thus bringing a global perspective to local debates.
