Continuing Education in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Kinshasa

On August 23 and 24, 2024, the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Kinshasa successfully organized the third continuing education module in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, under the high patronage of the Rector, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA. This event was held in the Monekosso room and concluded in the faculty's Digital Library, marking an important step in updating the knowledge of dentists.
This training targeted several key areas, including:

1. Management of myofascial pain syndrome of the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) using the arthrocentesis technique.
2. Management of medical emergencies in dental practice.
3. Oral and maxillofacial engineering, with emphasis on image interpretation.
More than ten renowned instructors contributed to this event, including Professor Fidèle NYIMI. He focused particularly on emergency management, exploring the scores and rules of the 4D in CHOMAX, while also addressing pitfalls and appropriate actions in critical situations.

The closing ceremony was marked by three interactive workshops that allowed participants from all provinces of the country to put into practice the skills acquired:

1. Workshop on the management of cardio-respiratory emergencies in dental practice,** where practitioners were able to share experiences and strategies.

2. Temporomandibular Joint Arthrocentesis Workshop,** focused on the application of this essential technique for the treatment of myofacial pain.

3. PRF and i-PRF membrane synthesis workshop, dedicated to the management of myofacial pain syndrome, offering an innovative approach to improve clinical outcomes.

This event not only strengthened the skills of the participants, but also fostered a network of collaboration between dental health professionals.
