Reports of the general assembly of the University of Kinshasa

68 years after its creation, having lived its hour of glory with notable achievements in terms of scientific research, innovation and service to the community, the University of Kinshasa is today a shadow of its former self.
Its precarious logistics, its unsatisfactory economic model, the demotivation and loss of interest on the part of teachers and all of its staff, the very fragile ethics, its inadequate performance software as well as a lack of contract between the University and the learner are all evils that are plaguing our alma mater.
Yet the dream is possible.
A University of the future, an enterprising one that creates and collaborates with the private and public sectors, which through strategic partnerships and the massive contribution of its students and staff, designs relevant solutions to the needs of its environment, the most direct of which is the commune of Lemba, then the city of Kinshasa, the DRC, Africa and the world.
UNIKIN can still shine through the quality of its production in terms of teaching, research and innovation.
Inspired by the new leadership at the head of UNIKIN, the present States-General to which we have invited you and for which you have shown a pressing interest are the manifestation of this desire to bring our Alma Mater to its position as the eldest daughter of the universities which leads the movement of renewal in the field of higher and university education.
COORDINATION OF ACTIVITIES
The scale and grandeur of its foundations required a committed, dynamic, effective and efficient team so that the results speak for the excellence we want for our alma mater.
This is how the teams worked under the supervision of the management committee, embodied in the person of the host, Rector Jean-Marie KAYEMBE.
The organization is composed as follows:
Management Committee: supervision
Technical Secretariat: support and logistics
Facilitation Commission: ensuring and supporting the work of the commission
Working committee, depending on the themes, composed of a president and a rapporteur and communication for the publicity of activities.
From the university police of the campus in order to ensure order having ensured the smooth running of the meetings, your comments and suggestions are strongly desired in order to ensure the sustainability of this work over time and the improvement of quality for the future.
OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
He ensured the smooth running of activities from the preparatory work to date with the personal involvement of the committee members, including the rector in the person of Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE who personally ensured the smooth running of activities.
OF THE TECHNICAL SECRETARIAT
The technical body and hero in the shadows worked to shape the activity.
She ensured the logistics and support of the committees throughout the period, i.e. preparatory work, committee work, plenary session and opening and closing session.
WORKING COMMITTEES
The committee work was the culmination of this work.
The participants were divided into 10 committees based on the following themes:
❖ Enterprising and innovative university
❖ What UNIKIN – State – Student contract?
❖ Digitalization, Governance and Digitization of the University of Kinshasa
❖ Reinvention of curricula for graduates with high employability
❖ Next-generation scientific research to meet the challenges of the sectors
❖ Make the Alumni community a force for the benefit of UNIKIN
❖ UNIKIN Geographic Growth Plan
❖ Communication, Advocacy and social responsibility of universities towards the population
❖ Security (prevention and risk management)
❖ What strategic partnerships should be concluded for the emergence of UNIKIN?
FACILITATION
The conduct of the general assembly required the intervention of facilitators within each of the committees in order to broaden the various discussions and debates relating to the committee's work. As a reminder, the role of the facilitator was:
• Be a multi-talented person, capable of taking on several roles at the same time
• Be both a mediator and a facilitator
• Ensure the smooth running of EGUNIKIN and achieve the expected objectives
• Guarantee the co-creation of the expected reference framework
• Maintain a climate of trust between stakeholders
• Support the work of the committees
Two people mainly played this role during the committee work.
They were Professor EMANI and consultant AL KITENGE.
The consultation of facilitators began during the preparatory work of the committees, which made it possible to produce the document of recommendations to be followed during the work in committees.
On the first day of the commissions, facilitation was requested mainly for the following axes:
● Security (prevention and risk management): Mr AL KITENGE
● UNIKIN geographic growth plan: Mr AL KITENGE, Professor EMINA
● Enterprising and innovative university: Prof EMINA
● Governance, Digitalization and Digitization of UNIKIN: Mr Al KITENGE
On the second day, she was approached by two committees, namely Security (prevention and risk management) and Enterprising and Innovative University; both cases were led by Professor EMINA.
The means of calling the various facilitators instead of the commissions was by telephone, mobility to reach different sites was done by car.
Facilitation has been of great importance in the progress of the work of the commissions at the various sites requiring it.
The constraint encountered when requesting facilitation was the response time due to the reduced number of facilitators but also the distance separating the sites.
MOBILIZATION AROUND PRESS ACTIVITY
The activity was broadcast on:
1. 6 radio and television broadcasting bodies
2. 5 online news outlets
3. 1 print media outlet
4. On all social networks of the University of Kinshasa in real time (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Zoom, etc.)
The importance and scale of the activity required an appeal to the press to demonstrate the relevance of these meetings for young people and the future of the University of Kinshasa.
LOGISTICS
During the activity, we had to mobilize:
– 10 rooms for committee work
– 2 places to eat
– 4 buses and a jeep for transporting participants and staff to different commission work sites
– Each room was equipped with a video projector and sound equipment, if necessary.
– Each room was equipped with a coffee corner and staff provided for this task.
– In addition to the significant need for manufacturing, we can illustrate with a sample of 140 reams of paper used to make these bases.
Since there were no shortage of imperfections, the technical secretariat did its best to improve the quality of the service provided in order to avoid us having to eat "ngayi ngayi rice".
As for the growing interest in its meetings every day, the technical secretariats were able to respond to all requests given their modest means.
OF SECURITY
The entire university police force was mobilized to ensure order and the safety of people on all sites, given the importance and scope of its foundations on the hoped-for glorious future for all.
