FIRST COUNCIL MEETING OF THE UNIVERSITY OF KINSHASA JUNE 2022.

This Friday, June 10, 2022, in the completely renovated room of the Maurice Plevoets Academic Senate, the first Council of the University of Kinshasa of the current Management Committee was held. This Council took place under the chairmanship of the Rector of the University of Kinshasa, the Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba.

This working session focused on the following main points:

  • Communication from the Rector of Unikin,
  • The state of teaching, research, administration and finances,
  • The appointment and promotion files of academic and scientific staff on the one hand, and of administrative, technical and manual staff on the other.

From the communication of the Rector of Unikin.

The Rector of Unikin, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba recalled the responsibilities associated with his position, which can be summed up as the supervision and coordination of all the activities of the institution he heads.

He recalled the vision, mission and values of Unikin.

He presented the Unikin strategic transformation plan through, in particular, the organization of the general states, the digitalization of management, the development of innovative sectors using new technologies, the sanitation of the university site, the restructuring and revitalization of the university police, the site security plan, self-financing, the generalization of anonymity for evaluations, the Unikin-government partnership, the commitment as “Unikin-Solution”.

On the state of teaching, research, administration and finances.

  • Teaching: Capacity building in LMD and development of the strategic plan for the Unikin academic sector.
  • Research: Reminder of the responsibilities of the General Secretariat for Research, publication policy, rankings, anti-plagiarism action plan, research centers created and to be created, research projects and virtual presence of Unikin, doctoral and continuing education, libraries, journals, university presses, museums, partnerships, research funds.
  • Administration: strategic plan for administrative governance, capacity building for administrators, housing issues, sanitation brigade.
  • Finances: Presentation of the Unikin budget for the 2022 financial year, proposal for a virtual platform for requesting funds, transfer of funds from faculties and other decentralized entities, computerized management and audit.

Staff appointment and promotion files.

  • For academic and scientific staff, several promotion applications received favorable opinions, i.e., 85%. Selection was based on compliance with current regulations.
  • For administrative, technical and manual staff, three categories of staff were examined (command, collaboration and executive agents), based on the criteria of education level, seniority and annual ratings.

This first University Council of the current Management Committee heralds a new era of prestige for this Alma Mater.
