Faculty Council

The Faculty is a teaching, research and production unit enjoying management autonomy.

In addition to the powers that may be conferred on it by the University's organic regulations, the Faculty Council manages and administers the Faculty. In this capacity:

  • It deliberates on all matters concerning the Faculty and the training of students;
  • He ensures the proper functioning of teaching and research;
  • He gives the Management Committee his opinion on the advisability of authorizing a member of the academic or scientific staff of the Faculty to exercise a permanent activity outside the Faculty;
  • It organizes the control of knowledge;
  • It proposes to the Management Committee the timetable of courses, the timetable of examinations and deliberations, the contribution of the examination juries;
  • It proposes the number of hours allocated to each course and the creation of Departments to be submitted to the University Council;
  • It develops draft teaching and research programs to be submitted to the university council;
  • It approves the budget forecasts and the budget allocation drawn up by the Dean;
  • He gives his opinion on:
  • extensions and modifications to the teaching program
  • the creation of any new academic or scientific post
  • appointments and promotions of teachers
  • the admission and registration of students as independent students or auditors.

The Faculty Council meets once a month and whenever the Dean or the Management Committee deems it necessary.

The Faculty Office is represented by the Dean, assisted by a Vice-Dean for Teaching, a Vice-Dean for Research, an Academic Secretary and the Heads of Departments.

The Vice-Dean replaces the Dean in the event of absence or impediment. However, the Faculty of Medicine has a Vice-Dean in charge of University Clinics who is by right the Physician-Director of the University Clinics.

The University Clinics are laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine.

The Faculty Office includes:

  1. the Dean;
  2. the Vice-Deans;
  3. the Academic Secretary and
  4. the Heads of Departments

In this regard:

  • he ensures the execution of the decisions of the Faculty Council;
  • he draws up the agenda for the Faculty Council meetings;
  • he ensures the proper functioning of the Departments and Research Centers;
  • In the event of an emergency, he takes all measures within the competence of the Faculty Council, with the responsibility of informing it at the next meeting;
  • he approves the timetables prepared by the Academic Secretary;
  • he gives his opinion on the absences of Academic and Scientific Staff.

The Dean is elected by his fellow Professors and then appointed by the Rector.

The Vice-Dean for Teaching coordinates the activities of the Departments with regard to Teaching and professionalization programs.

The Vice-Dean for Research coordinates scientific research activities and the production of publications.

The Academic Secretary of the Faculty is elected and then appointed by the Rector and deals with the academic issues of the Departments.
