The DRC Participates in the 6th African Youth Leadership Diplomatic Conference
Addis Ababa — From March 25 to 29, the 6th African Youth Leadership Diplomatic Conference (AYLDC6) brought together hundreds of young leaders from over 45 countries. Held at Africa Hall, the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, this continental event marked a significant milestone in promoting youth-led leadership and diplomacy across Africa.

Among the participants, Lumeya Masuta Jonathan, the current Regional President of the International Forum of African Youth for the Development of Africa (FIJADA), represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Leading a committed Congolese delegation, he reaffirmed the determination to ensure that the voice of the country’s youth is heard within major pan-African institutions.

This sixth edition of the AYLDC was also highlighted by the launch of a continental platform dedicated to youth leadership, diplomacy, and African-led solutions to the continent's challenges. According to the organizers, this initiative aims to strengthen the direct involvement of young people in decision-making processes and to encourage an endogenous approach to development.

At the heart of the discussions was a clear message: African youth now refuse to be sidelined. "It is unacceptable to continue discussing and making decisions regarding the future of African youth without their active participation," insisted a FIJADA official.

The participation of the Congolese delegation aligns perfectly with the goals of FIJADA-AFRICA, which advocates for an increased presence of young people in governance spheres. The DRC representatives intend to help shape an Africa where youth play a central role in defining public policies and development strategies.
