Research Weekly No. 2, week of March 21 to 27, 2022

The week of March 21-27, 2022 (Week 12; 2022), was marked by the publication of books of inestimable quality and value. These include, in particular:

  • R. Tshimanga Muamba, M. Bisa Kibul, B. Lututala Mumpasi. Nexus, Climate-Water-Migration-Conflict in the Congo Basin; Analysis of Interactions to Strengthen Community Resilience. Hope 2022. A treat, revealing the authors' well-known expertise and determination!
  • J Ipara Motema. Illness and the Quest for Health in the Democratic Republic of Congo. African Studies, Anthropology Series, 2022;
  • Mabiala Mantuba, once again to the aid of medicine!

Books to buy and to have others buy, especially since conferences and/or debates are already being prepared, in order to contribute to the popularization of these intellectual works.

Monday, March 21, SGR, Discussions with VDRSA

  • Continuation of discussions with the VDRSA for the establishment and promotion of institutional and faculty journals. Without prejudice to existing ones! An agreement, currently being finalized, will be signed between all journals, all research centers and Unikin; it is time to restore order in this sector.

Monday, March 21, Monsignor Luc Gillon Promotions Room : postponement of theLearning the university anthem (L'Unikinoise).

  • Yes, yes, the Rector and the SGAC think that many of you don't know how to sing L'unikinoise. The full-scale tests have been postponed to a later date. Take the opportunity to practice.

Tuesday, March 22, reception of some compatriots from the diaspora.

Wednesday, March 23, Monseigneur Luc Gillon Promotions Room: Women, always in the spotlight!

  • The female engineers have deserted Bunker A4 to take over the legendary Monseigneur Luc Gillon Promotions Hall. In the role of commander-in-chief, the Rector, and as... a crowd-pleaser, among others, Professor Joséphine Tumba! If you don't yet feel this magic that electrifies our university, it's because you're really doing it on purpose. Or, your illness is more serious than you think; in this case, you should consult Professors Ndaywel, Kinkela, N'toto, Kambaji, Kabeya, Shomba, Tshibangu (Rector of Muene-ditu), etc., with whom I had the pleasure of speaking this week.

Wednesday, March 23

  • A team of architectural experts from the Belgian-Flemish Cooperation (VLIR) met with them. They were delighted by their visit to our university museum (the only one in Central Africa!) and the central library, both currently under construction.
  • Continuation of discussions regarding the central printing house who must take his place;
  • Preparatory working session with members of the Independent Research Center CRIIC.

Thursday, March 24, SGR

  • Exchanges (conditions for welcoming learners and progress of the 3-year training courseth cycle) with a delegation from the Higher School of Water, composed, in particular, of learners from Algeria, Niger and, of course, the DRC, led by its pioneer, Professor Raphael Tshimanga.

Friday, March 25, SGR

  • Working session with the Staff of the Faculty of Agronomy led by Dean Kinkela. Ambitious and imminent projects; the university must provide solutions to the community's problems! Details in the coming days;
  • Discussions with an NGO on a community project around Maracuja.

Saturday, March 26, sports complex, epilogue of the Mr. Rector challenge

  • After a series of elimination matches, spread over a month, the faculties of Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy (PGER) and Sciences met in the final. A pleasantly electric atmosphere, apart from a few skirmishes from rare hotheads, really from Unikin? and on which I do not want to dwell. The applause meter was frankly in favor of the PGER. A high-quality match and truly enjoyable for football lovers. Four beautiful goals, 2 goals each at the end of regulation time. And Sciences lost after a penalty shootout missed by the very talented player who had scored their 2th goal in the match. A well-known phenomenon for these big stars who, often, like Maradona, Platini, Messi, Ronaldo, etc…, miss this ultimate test. Our experts (Mathematicians? Probabilists? Psychoanalysts? Psychologists? Others?) must enlighten us, for appropriate implications…. I cannot ignore the impeccable refereeing, by students (there is a training school at Unikin), including a female linesman, who behaved like real professionals! A small downside at the end of the ceremony, the medals and trophy awarded were made in Ch…! A real heartbreaker for me; I am going to order a study from our in-house experts, so that for the next competitions, all this equipment is stamped made in… Unikin, made in… DR Congo!

Save the date

Plan 145 territories

  • The deadline for submitting faculty proposals (VDRSA) has passed. Latecomers should get moving; otherwise, we will publish the names...

From (tomorrow) Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 March, Monsignor Luc Gillon Promotions Room

  • Training seminar (SGR-CRIIC; ESU and RSIT partnership) on Methodology and epistemology of scientific research. Paid participation, from 15 USD, not to be missed, especially for VDRSA, researchers, doctoral students, learners…

From Tuesday, March 29, Closing exhibition for the month of March

  • Unikin Women in Science: They raise the scientific bar, and we love them!
  • We will be discussing the new work of our prolific philosopher, Professor Ngoma Binda.

Thank you all for your dedication to restoring the image of our alma mater. Thank you in particular to those, including Professor Bongeli, whose renewed encouragement and support for the management committee are truly appreciated. I promised him that I would fight, along with several of them who wish to do so, to, among other things, bring back the opening sessions on the inspired hill. Our authorities do not hesitate to travel from one end of Brussels, or Paris, or elsewhere, braving 2 to 3 hours of traffic jams or more, to attend various activities; they are perfectly capable of coming up to sniff the air in the territory of the intelligentsia of the eldest daughter of the university of our country. Let us not hesitate to offer it to them.

Proud to be from the University of Kinshasa!

Done in Kinshasa, Sunday, March 27, 2022

For the Management Committee: Prof JM Kayembe, Rector; Prof E Banza, SGAC; Prof A Tshimpi, SGR; Prof B Lapika, SGADM; Prof Y Duagani, AB.
