Professor Dr. Selain Kasereka invited to the 10th HLF in Heidelberg, Germany (10th HLF)
Every year, during the last full week of September, winners of the world's most prestigious awards in mathematics and computer science—the Abel Prize, the ACM AM Turing Award, the ACM Award in Computer Science, the Fields Medal, the IMU Abacus Medal, and the Nevanlinna Prize—meet 200 young researchers selected from around the world. Participants spend a week interacting and networking in a relaxed atmosphere designed to encourage scientific exchange.
This year, at the 10th Forum organized from September 23 to 30, 2023, the University of Kinshasa is honored by the selection and invitation of one of its Professors, in the name of Dr. Selain Kasereka Kabunga, Professor in the Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Mention of the Faculty of Science and Technology. This year, marking the 10th anniversary of this prestigious forum, 24 laureates were invited to spend quality time with the 200 young researchers selected from around the world.
It should be noted that Professor Selain Kasereka is a former scholarship holder of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (2012-2014) for his Master's degree in Intelligent and Multimedia Systems (SIM) completed at the National University of Vietnam (Institut Francophone International) with a double degree from the University of La Rochelle in France in Digital Content Engineering (ICON). To enrich his knowledge in reasoning, he completed another master's degree in Natural and Artificial Cognition (CNA) at the University of Paris 8 in France before obtaining his doctoral thesis in Applied Sciences at the University of South Africa (South Africa) in collaboration with the National University of Vietnam in 2020.
Selain Kasereka is the first professor from the University of Kinshasa and the fourth Congolese from the DRC to participate in this major gathering with icons of mathematical and computer sciences from around the world. Among these great personalities, he spoke with VINTON GRAY CERF (Co-inventor of TCP/IP), WHITFIELD DIFFIE (Co-inventor of the Diffie-Hellman session key exchange cryptographic algorithm), HUGO DUMINIL-COPIN (probability theory), and others. These exchanges are a gateway to close collaboration between the University of Kinshasa and other universities, which will be represented in Heidelberg by various researchers. Furthermore, it should be noted that the University of Kinshasa is now included in the annals of the HLF Foundation through Professor Dr. Selain Kasereka of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
The Professor encourages all young researchers from the University of Kinshasa to apply to participate in the 11th HLF which will be organized in September 2024. To apply online: https://application.heidelberg-laureate-forum.org
