Presentation of the Mulan scholarship to the winners of the University of Kinshasa and a donation of medical equipment by the Chinese ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo
The Rector of the University of Kinshasa, the Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba and His Excellency the Chinese Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo Mr Zhu Jing proceeded, this Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Residence of the Chinese Ambassador, to the Awarding of the 1era session of the MULAN Scholarship to 24 Unikin students who distinguished themselves through their performances after selection tests.
Mulan, a legendary Chinese heroine, embodies courage, feminine autonomy and patriotic spirit. Thus, the MULAN Scholarship aims to support Congolese students in their dreams, to support those who wish to improve themselves and to serve the Nation.
The Coordinator of the Cooperation and International Relations Unit of UNIKIN, Professor Pascal Kapagama Ikando, presented an update on the cooperation between the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the University of Kinshasa. This was followed by remarks from the Rector of UNIKIN, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, and His Excellency the Chinese Ambassador to the DR Congo, Mr. Zhu Jing.





Out of 46 students pre-selected by the 12 Faculties of Unikin, 44 responded to the call from the Chinese Embassy in the DR Congo for interviews. These interviews were organized in 4 sessions from Thursday, February 24, 2022 to Monday, February 28, 2022 by 5 executives of the Chinese Embassy in the DR Congo, each awarding a score without knowing the score awarded by their colleague. This resulted in the final result of 24 selected students. By Faculty, the winners are as follows:

Students Tezipame Amisa from G3 Sociology and Sifa Pene Kepekaba Grace from L1 Oil and Gas expressed their thanks on behalf of all the winners.
In the second part of this ceremony, His Excellency the Chinese Ambassador to the DR Congo presented to the Rector of Unikin, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, a donation from the Chinese Government of medical equipment to fight against Covid-19: portable respiratory devices, masks, oxygen generators, and oxygen machine supports. A donation certificate was signed by both authorities.
