70 YEARS OF LOVANIUM: FOR A NEW START!
70 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LOVANIUM'S 70TH ANNIVERSARY
In 1954, the Catholic University of Louvain founded Lovanium, the first university in what was then the Belgian Congo. It was a mixed campus composed of professors from Louvain and Congolese and European students. Over the years, Lovanium evolved into two independent universities, the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) and the Catholic University of Congo (UCC). At the same time, the University of Louvain split into two independent universities, KU Leuven and UCLouvain. Close ties have remained between the four universities, which met from March 13 to 15, 2024, in Kinshasa to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Lovanium's founding.
The ceremony began on March 13
