The General Secretariat for Research (SGR) of the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) has unveiled its ambitious program for January 2025. Designed to strengthen university research and promote innovation, this agenda offers a series of strategic events and meetings for the academic community.
Raids on Faculties – January 10 to 15
The SGR will begin visits to several faculties and research centers according to the schedule below:
- January 10 : Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
- January 13 : Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and School of Public Health (ESP).
- January 14 : Faculties of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences as well as all research centers and doctoral schools (ED).
- January 15 : Faculties of Law (FD), Economics and Management Sciences (FSc.EG) and other research centers.
Objectives of these descents :
- Collect data on search results that can lead to business creation.
- Identify the constraints linked to the exploitation of this data.
- Check the implementation of rectoral directives, in particular on the use of anti-plagiarism and encoding in the Research Inventory and Planning Tool (OIPR).
Workshop on Doctoral Research – January 22 and 23
A workshop on the organization of postgraduate research will be organized. Topics will include:
- The elements required for doctoral registration files.
- The quality criteria of the defense juries.
- The importance of anti-plagiarism.
- Indexing of scientific journals and validation of published articles.
This workshop aims to improve the quality of doctoral research and to harmonize practices within the university.
Open Days – January 29 and 30
UNIKIN will host Open Days with a dual mission:
- Exhibition of research results : An opportunity to discover the scientific advances made by the university's various laboratories and research centers.
- Inter-faculty conference : The discussions will focus on the role of UNIKIN in the creation and incubation of businesses, in accordance with the government program (URDD = UNIKIN Solution).
Creation of a research monitoring and evaluation unit
Finally, January will see the establishment of a unit dedicated to monitoring and evaluating research activities, thus guaranteeing continuous support and optimization of the efforts undertaken.
A Decisive Month for UNIKIN
Under the leadership of the Secretary General for Research, Professor Yandju Dembo D'A Letshu Marie Claire, these initiatives mark a crucial step in the revitalization of university research in Kinshasa. The entire academic community is invited to actively participate in these activities.
