Calls for applications: doctoral scholarships for students
Indeed, KU Leuven has just opened its calls for applications for doctoral scholarships for students from so-called "developing" countries, including the DRC.
We hope that you could interest many UNIKIN candidates, as well as Co-promoters who are not Members of the virtual networks.

In the context of the growing cooperation between the University of Kinshasa and KU Leuven, the technical services of the North and South (SGR Office) offer all their assistance to facilitate your participation in these programs and the preparation + submission of applications.
SGR experts can also help correct the research projects of young candidates.
There are basically 3 kinds of doctoral scholarship programs as follows
1. Full-time scholarships at KU Leuven (4 years), entitled “PhD Scholarships for Researchers from the South”. Please find this call by following this link:

2. About ten of these scholarships. The competition is quite high; success rate around 15%
But with good files and the support of the SGR's technical services, everything will go better.
3. Sandwich scholarships (24 months in Leuven, 24 months at the parent university, in this case, UNIKIN).
This scholarship is called "Global Minds PhD scholarship". Please find this call by following this link:
https://www.kuleuven.be/global/global-development/funding-possibilities/research-possibilities/phdcalls
Note that the success rate is quite high at around 35%. They offer around ten scholarships.
However, the candidate must be supported (financially) by the parent university during the sandwich periods he is in Kinshasa.
PS. See the SGR for the practical arrangements for this local support. Everything is planned.
4. Marc Vervenne Fund Scholarships: For Congolese students only. This scholarship offers four three-month stays in Leuven (one visit per year). Please find this call by following this link:
https://www.kuleuven.be/global/global-development/funding-possibilities/research-possibilities/mvf
They offer 2 to 3 scholarships.
To apply, candidates must (urgently) find a supervisor at KU Leuven (see the SGR Office to help you identify potentially interested professors and provide useful recommendations), and initiate the admission procedure for the doctoral program (this procedure is initiated by the KU Leuven supervisor). Once admitted, candidates can create their scholarship application.
NB.
The deadline is March 9, 2023, but procedures will need to be initiated urgently, because the files must go through the doctoral committees of the faculties in Europe, which takes several weeks.
Do not hesitate to contact the SGR expert services for clarification.
