Erosion threatens the Mbanza-Lemba district and the University of Kinshasa
Erosion heads threaten the Mbanza-Lemba neighborhood and the University of Kinshasa. One of these erosions is progressing and is located less than 500 meters from the wall of the University of Kinshasa, near the Home 30 field. In an attempt to stop the progression of these erosions, the residents of the Mbanza-Lemba neighborhood, led by National Deputy Joseph MWINA KIANGEBENI (elected from Mont-Amba), propose to pool forces with the University of Kinshasa. This Sunday, June 8, 2025, the Representative of the residents of this neighborhood of the commune of Lemba went, with the Rector of the University of Kinshasa, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA, to the erosive site. Having noted the seriousness of the facts and the speed with which erosion is progressing, Rector KAYEMBE announced the involvement of the University of Kinshasa in the fight against erosion and the channeling of rainwater. This commitment, he affirmed, is part of the University's triple mission: research, teaching and service to the community. Experts from the University of Kinshasa, notably from the Directorate of Technical Services and Maintenance (DSTM), the Directorate of Heritage, the Directorate of the Domain and students from the Polytechnic Faculty are being called upon to carry out studies to be submitted to the competent authority for appropriate solutions. For his part, National Deputy Joseph MWINA KIANGEBENI promised to make a plea to the National Executive and Parliament for a rapid solution to be found.
