Commitment to boost research towards international standards

The commitment to quality research, the promotion of research results and its reputation according to international standards in the Democratic Republic of Congo was reaffirmed on Monday by the Secretary General in charge of Research at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), Professor Antoine Tshimpi.

"Quality research will restore UNIKIN to its former glory, and this research must be valued so that its reputation attracts people, the dividends", said Professor Tshimpi, during a working session he chaired for the heads of the research centers of this university institution.

"The university is called upon to appropriate the intelligence of the country through quality research oriented in particular towards teaching, investments, bankable projects and solutions to society's problems." he added.

However, Professor Tshimpi instructed the heads of the research centers to strengthen teamwork, to follow in the footsteps of the few UNIKIN research centers whose journals are indexed internationally.

Professor Antoine Tshimpi recalled the vision pursued by the management committee in terms of research.

Creation of a research fund

The Secretary General in charge of Research, Professor Tshimpi, also reminded participants of the need to participate in the creation of a research fund at UNIKIN, by mentioning resources to be used in different scientific fields for the self-financing of the University, in order to strengthen services to be provided to the community.

At the end of this activity, the "Research Inventory and Planning Tool (OIPR) in connection with the Research Centers and the project to create a directory of UNIKIN Research Centers" were explained to the participants.

In discussions, participants discussed, in particular, the pooling of research efforts, the encouragement of the Secretary General in charge of Research at UNIKIN to continue this momentum, the maintenance of rigor in doctoral research, team spirit, learning and mastering the English language to strengthen the communication of scientific results, and integration into non-commercial high-speed internet.

"In the EDUKANK ranking" of October 15, 2022, thanks to the research revival efforts provided by the current management committee, UNIKIN was ranked first out of six ESU institutions monitored in Kinshasa, first out of 25 in the DRC, 62nd out of 1104 African universities and 3063th out of 14,131 universities worldwide, it should be remembered.
