CRIMINOLOGY RESEARCH AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KINSHASA
The week of March 18-23, 2024, was devoted to the defense of master's theses at the School of Criminology at the University of Kinshasa. The Research Weekly therefore decided to devote this week's editorial to this rapidly expanding discipline in our Alma Mater and in our country.
For the record, the School of Criminology of our university was created by an order of the Minister of Higher and University Education dated October 30, 2018 as amended and supplemented by the ministerial order of February 24, 2021. Falling within the field of human and social sciences, the criminology branch includes the following specializations: (i) internal security, (ii) economic and environmental criminology, (iii) peace and conflict management, (iv) child protection and (v) forensics and (vi) criminological intervention. The master's theses defended were presented by the students of the first class of the School of Criminology of the University of Kinshasa. They therefore constitute the first class of criminologists produced by our university. They were taught by teachers from the University of Kinshasa, other Congolese universities and African, European and American universities.
