9th Francophone Games Kinshasa 2023 Progress of rehabilitation work on selected infrastructure on the Unikin site
Following its orientation meeting with the members of the steering committee of the 9th edition of the Francophone Games held on September 2, the Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde In his capacity as supervisor and chairman of this steering committee, he carried out an inspection visit to the various host sites on Tuesday, October 4. He visited the University of Kinshasa, the Tata Raphael Stadium and the Martyrs of Independence Stadium.
At Unikin, Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde was welcomed by the Rector, the Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba and its management committee. After a brief working session at the rectorate, the Prime Minister and his delegation visited the sites. This delegation included several members of the government, including the Minister of State for Infrastructure, the Ministers of ESU, Sports and Leisure, Youth, Regional Integration, and the Minister attached to the President of the Republic. Also present were the Director of the organizing committee and the Technical Director of the BTC (Technical Control Office).
The Prime Minister's visit aimed to assess the progress of preparations for this major sporting event. He visited the sports complex, which will be part of the playing areas reserved for the competition, and then the homes that will host some athletes and their delegations. He also reiterated the government's determination to organize these games, scheduled for July 28 to August 6, 2023.
Taking advantage of the Head of Government's presence on the university campus, Unikin students shared their grievances with him: the teachers' strike, the Transacademia project, rehousing, etc. The Prime Minister responded to their concerns by reassuring them of the national executive's willingness to find appropriate solutions.
