Launch of student catering in the university residences (homes) of the University of Kinshasa

Students at the University of Kinshasa will now be fed in hygienic and healthy conditions, at academic prices. This announcement was made by the Rector of the University of Kinshasa, Professor Jean-Marie KAYEMBE NTUMBA, who gave the go-ahead this Friday, June 6, 2025, to the Pistopop restaurant, located diagonally from the Vatican home, at the University of Kinshasa, following the Management Committee's decision to close unhygienic restaurants on the university site, commonly known as MALEWA. In his speech, the guide of the ex-Lovanium emphasized the Management Committee's concern: "to close restaurants riddled with microbes to ensure the good physical health of students, so that they consume food for which we are certain of hygiene and healthy environmental character," he insisted.
Well before, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, the Budget Administrator, Professor Jean KIGOTSI, had gathered the private owners of the restaurants in the homes and asked them to set prices accessible to all, ranging from 3,000 Fc to 5,000 Fc for a full meal. Very moved by this initiative of the UNIKIN management team, the students unanimously supported the effective launch of the catering. These restaurants are located at the Vatican homes, 8, 80, 150, as well as diagonally from the Vatican home (Pistopop restaurant) and behind the Polytechnic Faculty (Lokwa Cafeteria).
