Official launch of the International Center for Chinese Language Learning and Intercultural Exchange between Chinese and Congolese Peoples at the University of Kinshasa

The Mandarin and Chinese culture courses were officially launched at the University of Kinshasa on Monday, March 17, 2025. The symbolic ribbon-cutting marking the inauguration of the premises to house these courses took place behind Home 5, within the grounds of which the new premises are located.
In his speech, Mr. Zhao Bin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Democratic Republic of Congo, stated that learning Mandarin and Chinese culture will enable students to continue their studies and find jobs in China for their personal development. With over 200 million people outside of China, Mandarin is the most widely spoken language in the world. He also took the opportunity to express China's support in the war in eastern DRC. "This cooperation between the DRC and China will leave no room for those who invade eastern DRC," he added, demanding the withdrawal of the M23 and the Rwandan army from Congolese soil.

The Rector of the University of Kinshasa, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, who inaugurated these premises, also invited students to enroll en masse. Given that China is the country's largest economic partner, it is essential, in terms of training, to also explore the Chinese model to drive faster development.
This center, which will be led by the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, saw the Dean, Professor Eugène BITENDE NTOTILA, express his joy at welcoming this center for learning Chinese language and culture into his faculty, in his speech for the occasion.
The ceremony concluded with a demonstration of Chinese language teaching by Ambassador ZHAO Bin.
