Continuing the series of conferences organized in his honor, the “ Nobel Peace Prize 2018 ", THE Professor Dr. Denis Mukwege  has responded to the request of the University of Kinshasa to become involved in the theoretical and practical training of medical students at all levels. It is to its true value that the " Women's Repairer » gave this Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in the Monekosso room of the Faculty of Medicine of Unikin, a lesson in Gynecology on the “Management of traumatic uro-genital and lower genito-digestive fistulas (FTUG-DB)”.

After brief speeches by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Unikin, the Rector of Unikin and the Secretary General for Research of Unikin, the " Repairer of women » developed his material in front of an attentive audience.

In fact, the FTUG-DB constitute a major public health problem today that requires adequate care. Improper repair of these fistulas can have social, medical, psychological and economic consequences for the victims. Thus, the results of surgical interventions performed on these victims depend on the types of fistulas, the skill of the surgeons and the post-operative care. Poignant images for the faint of heart illustrated this lesson. The moment of debate and exchange was of very high scientific importance. A completely different dimension of gynecology and urology was discovered.

The passage of such a great man at the University of Kinshasa cannot leave anyone indifferent. It is in this context that the coordination of students of the Faculty of Medicine offered Professor Dr. Denis Mukwege a royal palm called " Tree for the fight Prof. Dr. Denis Mukwege " while the gender structure of Unikin offered two works of art demonstrating that women are capable of being actors in development.

This second day of presentations was moderated by the duo Professor Nadège Ngombe and Professor Joséphine Ntumba.

Unikin was very pleased with these two days of marathon conferences led by the " Nobel Peace Prize 2018 " while hoping for a research bridge between Unikin (through its Gynecology department) and Panzi Hospital.
