The University of Kinshasa pays tribute to Professor Emeritus Gaston KALAMBAYI LUMPUNGU

This Thursday, August 10, a tribute ceremony was held for Professor Emeritus Gaston KALAMBAYI LUMPUNGU, of the Faculty of Law at the University of Kinshasa. Professor KALAMBAYI, who passed away on August 4, 2023 at the University Clinics of Kinshasa, served the University of Kinshasa and Congolese society for 57 years.

In his speech, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, Rector of the University of Kinshasa, recalled the qualities of the illustrious deceased, including humility, love of work, rectitude, and rigidity. On the scientific level, the man considered one of the Baobabs of the Faculty of Law was an expert in land law and natural resource issues. As such, he was an expert and consultant in several ministries and international organizations. He also promoted numerous doctoral theses at the University of Kinshasa and across the country in these fields. It should be noted that the tribute ceremony took place in two stages. First, there were academic tributes, and second, there were tributes from the bar with the Kinshasa/Matete Court of Appeal. As a reminder, Professor Gaston Kalambayi Lumpungu was also a lawyer.
