The University of Kinshasa strengthens its scientific cooperation and launches a Science Park project

In a context of modernization and openness, the University of Kinshasa is intensifying its initiatives in terms of scientific partnerships. A first working session, chaired by the Rector, Professor Jean Marie Kayembe Ntumba, was held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, bringing together the deans of faculties to discuss South-South scientific cooperation, particularly with South Africa, within the framework of the DRC-RSA bilateral agreement signed in 2022, focused on research and innovation.

A second meeting took place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, during which fruitful discussions allowed us to clarify the project to create a Science Park within UNIKIN. This space will be dedicated to applied research, innovation, and project incubation. The main objectives of this Science Park are:

– Strengthen prototyping capabilities,
– Attract funding for research,
– Develop partnerships between university, industry and society.

This project is fully in line with the URDD (University, Research, Sustainable Development) dynamic, with the ambition of making UNIKIN a strategic player in regional development. Physicists Max Seke and Sharon Rose KAPINGA also contributed to the discussions, bringing their expertise to the process.
