The University of Kinshasa finished in 2nd place in the ICC mock trial competition, with the “Best Speaker” prize awarded to Débora Sabanga

Aujourd’hui, le 24 mai 2024, l’Université  Paris-Panthéon-Assas (France) a remporté la finale de la version française du concours de procès fictif de la Cour pénale internationale (CPI), qui a eu lieu en salle d’audience I de la CPI à La Haye (Pays-Bas). L’Université de Kinshasa (République Démocratique du Congo) a remporté la deuxième place. Le prix du « Meilleur orateur » a été décerné à Débora Sabanga de l’Université de Kinshasa.

The jury was composed of ICC Second Vice-President Judge Reine Alapini-Gansou, presiding judge of the jury, ICC Judge Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza, and ICC legal officer Léo Jolivet.

The teams competed in a fictional case and presented their arguments as Legal Representatives of Victims and the Defense, which were streamed live on the Court's website and Facebook account.

This third edition of the French-language mock trial competition is organized by the Hague Academy of International Law, with the support of the French Embassy in the Netherlands. 42 universities from 17 countries participated in the competition.
