Research Weekly No. 45/2023 (Week 04, January 23-29, 2023)

RESEARCH AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KINSHASA; HEAVY,
VERY HEAVY

Yes, I'm talking about research at the University of Kinshasa and its level: "very high level, top-notch!" a source who prefers to remain anonymous told me. And to convince yourself, there are plenty of examples. By the way, just one question: how many thesis defense sessions have you attended in the last twelve months? No, no, not as a jury member, but as a simple participant (a scientist cannot be a spectator) at a scientific feast? You can't imagine for a single second what those who are absent miss. Thursdays and Fridays of each week are devoted to thesis defenses. And I can tell you that the level is increasingly tickling the stars! Each of us should be aware of this and play our part. And should refuse to speak ill of our university. You will better understand what allowed us, coming from nowhere, to make this resounding irruption to 62nd place out of 1104 African higher education institutions and 3063rd out of 14131 global institutions in the EDURANK 2022 ranking. Our determination and perseverance, all of us, give us a great opportunity to further improve our score. For example, those who attended the thesis defense last Thursday afternoon, were in communion with science. From the casting of the jury, rigorously respecting instruction 023, and now 024, to the defense itself and its pace, including a massive presence of researchers, in this beautiful and legendary digital library of the Faculty of Medicine, everything was "Science", a treat!
