The general secretaries in charge of research in higher and university education establishments (ESU) have learned from the experience of the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) which will develop a research policy in the coming days.
They inquired about this experience which will serve as a working basis for the institutions where the position of Secretary General of Research was created, following a workshop organized from April 11 to 12, 2022 at UNIKIN, on the instructions of the Minister of Higher and University Education (ESU), and placed under
the theme: "the role and functioning of the general secretariat of research, experience of the first six months at UNIKIN, exchanges and sharing of experiences with other institutions."
Details of this research policy
This research policy will have to bring together all the major research activities and the popularization of research results, the creation of structures for promoting doctoral schools, the implementation of control mechanisms to combat plagiarism and the production of thesis directories.
It will also be a question of promoting the creation of scientific journals with international connotations with reading committees, the organization of open days and doctoral days as well as websites and virtual libraries.
The various speakers finally focused on the creation of this new post of Secretary General for Research in the DRC; the different stages of its implementation; the definition of its role; the reflection on the resilient ways and means for the generalization of doctoral schools in the Republic of awareness as well as the indicators of quality assurance and its daily functioning and its relations with the other sectors of the institution.
This workshop was organized by UNIKIN in collaboration with the "National Mechanism for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Resolutions of the DRC 2021 General Assembly", while its work was facilitated by the Secretary General in charge of research at UNIKIN, Professor Antoine Tshimpi, who is also the coordinator of this Mechanism.
