Visit of traditional leaders to the Rector of the University of Kinshasa
In response to the correspondence from the traditional chiefs addressed to the Rector of Unikin, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, the latter received them this Monday, December 27, 2021.
This delegation, led by Prince Sylvestre Luyeye Kimpe, Grand Chief of Djelo Binza and coordinator of the Kinshasa indigenous peoples' group, said it was honored by the consideration that the Rector of Unikin had shown them.
For his part, the Rector of Unikin was pleased that the traditional leaders had responded to this meeting despite the grief affecting their community.
The traditional leaders expressed the wish to see Unikin don its beautiful dress of yesteryear, regain its place among the best universities in Africa and that the current mandate of the Rector be full of success.
The Rector apologized to the large community of traditional chiefs for all previous failings and promised to take their opinions and considerations into account in making major decisions concerning Unikin. "We need your support," he said.
The traditional leaders recognized that this was a historic moment.
The meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 7, 2022 for a ceremony to exchange wishes and blessings.
"Good religion is knowing how to respect one's traditions," said one of the traditional chiefs present.
