Official ceremony of change of command and provision of new uniforms to the police of the University of Kinshasa

The Rector of UNIKIN, accompanied by the Management Committee, once again paid tribute to the University of Kinshasa police. A dignified ceremony took place for the transfer of command within the university guard.

In his speech, the Rector of Unikin, the Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, recalled the main missions of the university police while welcoming the new recruits.

The transfer of command took place between the outgoing commander  Sakombi and the incoming commander Gbomoka.

In his speech of circumstance, the Commander Gbomoka recalled the values of a good police officer whose role is to protect property and people, control and restore public order, and execute the authorities' decisions. He also highlighted four key findings arising from the exercise of his duties: the aging of the staff (pensions, reduction in staff), the lack of adequate training (training of OPJs), the lack of equipment (means of transport, cameras, Motorolas, batons, etc.), and the lack of motivation.

The second highlight of this ceremony was the symbolic presentation of uniforms to the university police officers.

This is a strong signal for the revitalization of the activities of this entity in charge of security on the university site.
