COLLOQUIUM: Celebration of the 18th anniversary of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Congo (February 18, 2006-February 17, 2024)
Theme :
"The Congolese Constitution of February 18, 2006 at 18 years old"
On February 18, 2006, President Joseph Kabila promulgated the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), adopted by referendum held from December 18 to 19, 2005. On February 18, 2024, this Constitution will total eighteen (18) years of existence on a continent where constitutions do not last long.
Eighteen is the age of maturity. The 18th anniversary of the law that founded the State and the Republic offers the Congolese nation, particularly its intellectual elite, a unique opportunity to reflect on it calmly. Aware of its responsibilities before God, the Nation, Africa, and the world, the intellectual elite should take time to reexamine the Fundamental Law, its strengths and weaknesses, as well as the problems related to its identity, its implementation, and even its future.
