Second training and awareness session for the 80 other focal points on the SDGs, executives from 15 other ministries

After the first session in September 2022 to strengthen the capacities of public administration executives on Sustainable Development and the SDGs in the DRC (65 focal points from 13 different ministries), the School of Public Health of the University of Kinshasa in collaboration with the Congolese Observatory for Sustainable Development of the Ministry of Planning organized, from August 29 to 30, 2023, a second training and awareness session for the other 80 focal points on the SDGs, executives from 15 other ministries, different from those of the first session.

The SDGCap Project of Karolinska Institutet of Sweden, which supports these activities, aims to strengthen capacities and knowledge on Sustainable Development in all sectors using the "University" as the main actor. The international Agenda 2023 must be well known to all to enable everyone to take responsibility for achieving the SDGs by 2030. Having a critical mass spread throughout the administration would allow for good alignment of sectoral policies and plans related to the SDGs, as well as effective planning and implementation of the SDGs in the DRC. The University of Kinshasa, as a leader in the academic sector, has therefore taken up this challenge through its vocation for training, research and innovation.

A total of five executives from the Study and Planning Directorates (DEP) of 16 Ministries were therefore trained and made aware to better serve as SDG Focal Points within their ministries. They came from the 1- Ministry of the Interior, Security and Customary Affairs, 2- Ministry of Civil Service, Modernization of Administration and Innovation of Public Service, 3- Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works, 4. Ministry of Budget, 5. Ministry of Portfolio, 6. Ministry of Urban Planning and Housing, 7. Ministry of Decentralization and Institutional Reforms, 8. Ministry of Finance, 9. Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises, 10. Ministry of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation, 11. Ministry of Land Affairs, 12. Ministry of Human Rights, 13. Ministry of Youth, Initiation to New Citizenship and National Cohesion, 14. Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, 15. Ministry of Regional Planning.
