International Women's Day/March 2022 at the University of Kinshasa

The Rector of the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, encouraged women working in different scientific fields to excel in creativity, innovation and other far-reaching scientific achievements, in order to contribute to the development of the country, in his speech for the occasion at a day of reflection under the theme: " Promoting the achievements of female academics ", organized Thursday, on the sidelines of the celebration of International Women's Day.

For Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe, female academics are capable of many things when placed in favorable conditions.

To this end, he reaffirmed the support of his management committee for the scientific work carried out by the women of UNIKIN, before urging them to develop bankable research projects for the benefit of the university community, in particular, and Congolese society, in general.

In his speech, the Secretary General for Research of UNIKIN, Professor Antoine Tshimpi, focused on the role of research likely to implement the development of a nation, emphasizing the need to popularize research results.

Furthermore, the participants in this day of reflection welcomed the creation, by a Congolese scientist, of the rolling robot which regulates traffic on the roads of Kinshasa and the interior of the country as well as the respirators.

Engineer Thérèse Kirogonzi shared her experience in scientific research as a woman, highlighting the need to strengthen gender complementarity and financial support to advance these innovations.
