“We stand with you to ensure that this aggression stops and that justice is served…” This is an excerpt from the speech by the Head of the delegation of three European Members of Parliament visiting Kinshasa, Thierry MARIANI, during the conference held on March 8, 2025 at the University of Kinshasa, on the theme: “THE OCCUPATION OF EASTERN DRC BY RWANDA”.
"The cause of the Democratic Republic of Congo is just," added Philippe Olivier, Member of the European Parliament, while emphasizing that the DRC has become the target of expansionism by its neighbors, particularly Rwanda, to which Europe tends to turn a blind eye. He also stated that his fellow MEPs and he himself have decided to highlight the tragedy facing the Congo.

For her part, Ms. Virginie JORON, Member of the European Parliament, declared that on March 8, 2025, as the world celebrates International Women's Day, "it is unthinkable to ignore the suffering of women in the DRC, a country where war has transformed their lives into veritable battlefields. This violence, caused by the conflict, strikes women and girls with unprecedented cruelty. More than a million women have been affected by rape, used as a weapon of war, since the 1990s. We must act by calling for sanctions against Rwanda," added Virginie Joron.
For his part, the Rector of the University of Kinshasa said he was happy to welcome these MEPs, because it is time for this misery and suffering in the East of the DRC to end and for the voice of truth to be heard fairly by all.
