The University of Kinshasa Honors Professor Christian de BOISSIEU for his Contributions to the Economic Empowerment of Africa

On Friday, November 22, 2024, the University of Kinshasa had the honor of awarding the degree of Doctorate Honoris Causa to Professor Emeritus Christian de BOISSIEU, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the progressive economic empowerment of Africa. The ceremony took place in the Monekosso Hall at the University of Kinshasa.
In his speech, Professor de BOISSIEU addressed the crucial issue of financing the energy and ecological transition (EET) in Africa. He highlighted several challenges, including the continent's current economic situation, future prospects, and issues related to climate change. He also emphasized the importance of respecting the commitments made during the Paris Agreement (COP21, 2015) and the need for massive investments to support the EET by 2030 and beyond.

Moved by this recognition, Professor de BOISSIEU committed to teaching and organizing conferences, even remotely, to support learners at the country's eldest university.
The Rector of this Alma Mater, Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe Ntumba, expressed his joy at having a renowned friend among his partners. The ceremony was also attended by several officials, including the 2nd Vice President of the Senate of the DRC, Professor Bahati Lukwebo, and Ambassador Emile Ngoy, a former student of the recipient.
Professor Christian de BOISSIEU, a specialist in monetary and banking issues, held various positions as an economic advisor to financial institutions before joining the Board of the Financial Markets Authority (AMF).
